my shining star

Today pre-orders kick off for the fabulous Persnickety Clothing spring line. Their stuff is to die for (and a splurge), but I adore all of their details and designs and think it photographs so well. On that note, had to share this shot of my sweet M in one of my favorite Persnickety dresses from the Fall. She is my shining superstar and lights up everything she touches!

Tights from Old Navy and boots by Joyfolie (another must shop site!).

the w boys

I always look forward to photographing this crew each year. Love that they know the drill and can crank out some serious cuteness in just 15 minutes! Mom always picks out the best outfits too….and you should see her home and the way she displays their photos. She even used these images to created custom stamps for their holiday cards, which I loved – it’s all about the details:)

miss c’s gumball birthday party

How many of you remember the awesome life-sized gumball machine that I drug out for a shoot this fall? If you missed it, be sure to check it out here, but equally as exciting is the party it was for, which is featured below. Mom and Dad went all out for Miss C’s 5th birthday party, complete with tons of family and friends, plus bubbles, bubble gum machines, all things pink (her favorite color), lots of sugar and even a balloon artist, who made countless pink poodles. I absolutely love to shoot birthday parties and it was such an honor to be apart of Miss C’s big day. Enjoy the celebration! Printables by The Tomkat Studio.

classic chevy mini session recap

I have dreamed of finding a red ’57 Chevy to use in a session, and I can’t believe one finally made its way into my life. It was a lot of coordination and I was so let down that the rain decided to come on the original scheduled date….and then several families had conflicts with the new date…so it was such a bummer after all the hard work:( BUT there was such an incredible response to the session theme, and even more after images were released, that we are doing our best to bring this car back out sometime in the spring for another round of mini sessions!! So if you are interested in learning more about those dates, be sure to contact me through the blog or website for more info. As you can see, we had some adorable children and some priceless moments!

rockin with the darsts – our family holiday card 2012

These rock stars are some of the biggest inspiration for my work, and they are always the inspiration for our annual Christmas card. With their inherited Daddy’s love of music, an ingenious wit for memorizing all song titles and artists, a love of daily dance parties around the coffee table and Ipod, and an introduction to a “real” record player this year along with receiving their first record albums of their own, they made it easy on me. I had this vision planted long ago.

This may not be your idea of a Christmas card, but it is exactly mine. As you can read up here, our card is a present I give myself. This represents some of our greatest memories from the year and one of our favorite family traditions of 2012 – family dance parties. While perhaps a bit nontraditional, this card completely sums up our children and we hoped that it would bring smiles to faces and maybe even make some memories for others as we shared just a few of our favorite songs of the year.

Special, SPECIAL thanks go out to one of my great friends and partners, Jill of Stamped Paper Co., for another amazing collaboration to bring this card to life.  You may recall some of her previous work for us here and here, and even with former Bachelorette Trista Sutter here, but she truly outdid herself this year with our card, which had its own WEBSITE! Seriously???. Truth is it was WAY cheaper (and cooler!) to do that than mail out CD’s. And sharing the music with you all was a huge component!! You MUST go check out rockinwiththedarsts.com to see MORE – from LIVE MUSIC, to a fan page, clever tour dates and more, she really brought our ideas to a whole other level! It has been SO fun to receive all the fan mail and hear how much it has meant to people or how their kids have been dancing to new tunes.

So here you have it – the rest of our card followed by a few screen grabs of our website – enjoy and have a ROCKIN 2013!!
