i haven’t given the blog any love since i’ve been back – blame my allergies turned sinus infection, blame distractions of my Mr. D turning 3, blame it on preparations for Friday’s big mini-session event and blame it on playing catch up! i’ve also had the opportunity to begin working with a mentor, which is so exciting for me personally, because i have been searching and searching for someone and it is much easier said than done. so anyway, i have been meeting with him, and it’s been a whirlwind since i got back!!
so hubby and i headed off to puerto vallarta to celebrate our 30th birthdays. he is always the one surprising me and the one who always plans our vacations, so i beat him to the punch this year by giving him this trip for christmas. that said, i was the one who actually got to celebrate my birthday while i was there! just the way it worked out…seriously:) and the best part was that all my old college roomies, plus their hubbies, were able to join us and we have never all gotten to travel together like this before. can you believe we were all able to line up childcare at the same time? what a treat. thanks to derek’s parents for watching our kids!!
i got 2 massages, i had lots of fun drinks, i karaoke’d, i danced on stage, i swam with dolphins (first time ever!), i feel asleep by the pool, i slept in….you get the picture? it was a great getaway – our resort, riu palace pacifico, was wonderful (although i hate all-inclusive food).
before i left, i decided since this was supposed to be a vacation, i was going to leave my camera at home. a hard call to make:( i know that might not make sense, but right now, it is a love/hate relationship with me and my camera. i love my camera and i love taking photos, but i knew if it was with me, i would want to take pictures the whole time = no relaxing and no break. and then i would have want to come home and edit them = more work for myself. it was a little easier knowing one of my friends on the trip, allison (a top-dawg wedding and portait photographer in austin) brought her camera along:) i can’t wait to get her photos because she did sunset couples pics on the beach one night! so anyway, what you have below are trusty point-and-shoot photos that hubby took and ones i bought from dolphin peeps.
thanks guys for an incredible trip! we have all been best friends for over 12 years now and have shared in so many great memories and events together – here’s to many more!
