sometimes we all have those days. as children, the kind of days when we wake up on the wrong side of the bed. as moms, the kind of days where our kids wanna make us pull our hair out and the kind of days that drive us to tears.
we’ve all been there….which is why i had to share a little behind the scenes on this particular shoot. no amount of my singing or dancing, my silly jokes or cinderella pez, my spelling games or my renditions of all the disney princess songs, could make baby sis miss j break out of her shell. not even sending mom away. the sweltering heat, sticker burrs and pretty headband we wanted to tie around her head wasn’t helping the situation.
i was racking my brain trying to work a miracle and not sure why it took me so long to remember that potty talk is magic! it’s my lifeline right now with my own kids. i know, so “uncouth,” but i will do anything for a photo, so it’s the one time my kids are allowed to talk poo and pee as much as they want. so this trade secret i freely share with all you moms because it will save your life. i promise. my kids now shriek with anticipation when i talk about taking photos because they get to bring on all the potty talk and not get in trouble:) see the magic for yourself….
so krista, thanks for letting me share your story. i know some mom is going to feel better reading this knowing that it’s not just her kids that have their moments. all kids have moments. and then we all have days like this. days when our kids are happy go lucky and on top of the world and smiles like these are what light up our life and remind us why it is all worth it.
