this is the sweet, equally spunky girl that my miss m came out to help me shoot. maren was so excited to see a big girl work it for the camera and miss k surely did! she even fell off bluebell and with the help of some candy and makeup, popped right back up to show her how it was done. i love so many that we captured of miss k to highlight her turning 6 years old….
as parents we strive for that smiley shot of our kids where they are looking at us straight on and sitting perfectly still because that’s what we’ve always been conditioned to think makes a great photo - i find myself striving for the same thing with my kids and i do always try and capture that for my families – but time and again, when i sit back to edit a session, my heart often tugs for the candid shots and especially the serious faces like below. you get that set of killer eyes staring straight back at you and they are wide open and full of sparkle, unlike what often happens when we smile which = squinty eyes. just a thought because i adore the shot below. and i couldn’t decide what i liked best (color or BW) so i’m posting both…although as of the time this post was written, the BW was winning on my Facebook page (which if you are not a fan of yet, pretty please click and go “like” now)!
