the days are long but the years are short. here’s to living in the moment and soaking up each and every day, the good and the bad. when i look at my baby and wonder where the last year went, that’s all i want to do.
look at you sweet boy. sitting there like you really sit still (ha!) and hands all folded like a big boy. staring up at me with those big blue eyes, just like your brother and sister (how again did 2 brown haired, brown eyed people get THREE blue-eyed, blond-haired children?). i love every part of you and all that you are, and as much as i’m so sad the first year of your life has passed, i’m so excited to watch you grow into a big boy. i can’t wait to hear you say more words and i look forward to the day you’ll tell me that you love me. you already show me in your own special way:) i can’t wait to see the role you make for yourself in this family. i know you will always make my heart smile and you will always be my little sunshine!
i snatched this chair off the side of the road for you. it needed some work and your pop made it just right with a little tlc, but mommy painted up good and yellow for your one-year shoot and your “you are my sunshine” party around the corner. i knew i needed something to house you in the middle of a field because you are one little ball of motion! still took daddy (and this ladybug) to corral you while i took these pictures.
then out came the hat. which of course you wanted nothing to do with…but at least it was something to play with. i still have no idea how i got this shot of you but i loooove the look you are giving me!
then you had to show off your moves – taking a few steps but not 100% on the loose yet!
you are an excellent eater and sleeper and you have 7 teeth. you are super affectionate, love your lovie and more than anything, your brother and sister. goldfish are your favorite food and i’m pretty sure you know you look like cubby on jake and the never land pirates. you hysterically crack yourself up trying to play ball, you love to play kitchen and you love your swing. you can clap and bounce to dance and you have your own one-armed version of raising the roof. you also like to climb up slides and still put everything in your mouth.
and when i see this smile, nothing else matters. it makes me want to go lay with you while you are sleeping. kiss on those chubby cheeks and long eyelashes. wake up each day and bring you in bed with me to snuggle before i hit the ground running. make time…and take time… to do absolutely nothing with you by my side.
