this time of year, i receive so many emails about what to wear for holiday photos. i love this part of session planning and i love to put things together with my clients and brainstorm about great looks that will not only photograph well, but often looks that can be meaningful and capture and highlight things about your children at each precious stage. for the child that insists on wearing rainboots every day to school or for the little girl that wants to wear her snow white princess dress every time you go run errands, that’s the kind of stuff that makes your wardrobe selection easy! bring it to your session and i promise you will love it in your photos.
i could spend hours putting together inspriation boards (especially for fall clothing – my favorite!!) and sharing links of things that i like. someday i will do this and create a giant library for my clients. until then, here’s a few quick screen grabs from gap.com that caught my eye. love the layers, textures, patterns, etc. don’t let colors or patterns turn you off if they’re not your favorite – try to see past that and key in on how these outfits are put together and then go create one on your own that you do like! you don’t *have* to go out and buy new stuff either – i promise you can create looks like this out of what’s lying around in your kids closets!! and pay attention to DETAILS – small things like jewelry (rings, bracelets, etc) or hair accessories and shoes, etc really help jazz things up and add in fun color!! BE CREATIVE!!!
